in order to procrastinate even more, i came up with a vague list of things
this year was all about crystal castles, but before that, it started off with these new puritans and does it offend you yeah, which completely blew my mind.
everything was so different and old stuff sounded new and new stuff sounded like nothing out there.
the white stripes boy-girl duo thing seems to be working really well too, the ting tings made it pretty big and bed red shoes were quite good too. it band the kills are beyond cool: sometimes its better to believe the hype. the raveonettes had the same thing going on, with all the heavy reverb and abrasive guitar sounds. i like.
for me, 2008 was dance rock year. does it offend you yeah was all electronic-robotic-zombie-in-your-face-ish. foals pulled it off really well, complete with bleeps and blobs and angular haircuts. sounds quite like the rapture. ¡forward, russia! sounds like the futureheads.
everything got weirder and weirder from there. the weirder the better right?
right?
people started talking (in funny accents) over synths, like french m83 and the teenagers . i just started on the teenagers and it is sooooo cheesy.
acts like santogold (think m.i.a?), black kids, mgmt, cut copy, little teeth and the one and only CSS had really out-there sounds which i find really hard to ignore. especially with body suits and holographic lycra.
found some awesome intrumental stuff like unwed sailor (go download free stuff from their site), do make say think and mid-air(more free downloads!). toe, we are! we are!, etc.
moving back to crystal castles. 8-bit samples and trashy sounds were new to me AND IT WAS AMAZING. listened to some of their remixes, which led me to noise band health. i don't really get the whole noise thing but it's not bad when your in the right mood. you know.
i don't know anything
